LCD module (Liquid Crystal Display)
The LCD module (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module with a wide range of applications. LCD module display is economical; can easily be programmed and has unlimitated of displaying special and even custom characters, animations and so on.
LCD module display
LCD module display is based on a pixel matrix in a wide range of standard Character LCD modules such as 8x2, 12x2, 16x1, 16x2, 16x4, 20x2, 20x4, 24x2 and even 40x4 formats usually at 5x8 or 5x7 dot matrix characters. LCD module panel technologies include TN, STN, FSTN, FFSTN and can be equipped with polarizer positive mode and negative mode options. Different LED backlight colorss for the LCD module are also available, including yellow/green, white, red, blue, green, amber.
16x2 LCD module
Our common 16x2 LCD module can display 16 characters per line in 2 lines. Each character is displayed in 5x7 pixel matrix. LCD modules have two registers, namely, Command and Data.
The command register stores the command instructions given to the LCD. A command is an instruction given to the LCD to perform a predefined task like initializing it, clearing its screen, setting the cursor position, controlling display etc. The data register stores the data to be displayed on the LCD. The data is the ASCII value of the character to be displayed on the LCD.
